In a further step towards the confirmation of its squad for next season, the Caja Rural - Seguros RGA team has secured the continuity of two fundamental pieces in its structure: David Gonzalez and Michal Schlegel have renewed their contracts for another year. These renewals come amid all the controversy of Operation Ilex in which the Spanish team has been involved;
The rider from Avila, David González, will wear the colors of the green team for the sixth consecutive season, consolidating himself as one of the most emblematic riders of the squad coming from the subsidiary Caja Rural-Alea. His tenacity and constant evolution have been rewarded this year with his first victory as a professional during the first stage of the G.P. Torres Vedras. In addition, Gonzalez left his mark in partial stages of the Vuelta a España and the Tour of Slovenia, proving to be a force to be reckoned with in various race conditions.
The team's sports director highlighted the importance of having a rider like David González: "His dedication and constant progression are exemplary. Seeing him raise his arms in the G.P. Torres Vedras was a special moment for the whole team, and we are eager to see what he has in store for us next season".
On the other hand, Czech cyclist Michal Schlegel will continue under the Caja Rural-Seguros RGA umbrella for his third year. With a prominent role as a gregario and the ability to capitalize on opportunities to shine, Schlegel has become a mainstay for the team. His fourth place overall in Torres Vedras and fifth place in the Czech Republic Nationals underline his versatility and ability to excel in different terrains.
Schlegel himself expressed his satisfaction with the renewal: "I am delighted to continue to be part of this team. We have built a great dynamic, and I am looking forward to contributing even more next season. I appreciate the team's trust and will work hard to continue to deliver good results."
