BREAKING: Fabian Cancellara announces new Swiss Pro Team

After a year in the making, today was a very special day in the career of Fabian Cancellara, who has just announced the launching of a new professional cycling team based in Switzerland: Tudor Pro Cycling Team.

“A great day to be able to announce this new adventure of the Tudor Pro Cycling Team," he told reporters in the official launch of the team. "We start from the Swiss Racing Academy which already races many races, but from today everything changes. Today is a great day with great motivation for the future. It is a project focused on and born from Swiss cycling, even if we will not only have Swiss riders," he said.

With the start of the Tour de Romandie today, all eyes are on Switzerland for the World Tour action and continental Swiss Racing Academy - which currently has three riders set to start in the World Tour event - was revealed to be the base for this project which will be a Pro Team: "We lacked a project of this type in our country, which could also give continuity to the young people of the Swiss Racing Academy, trying to entice other young people to approach cycling. I'm a realist, I know we need time to get to the big races and the big wins," Cancellara said.

The Swiss legend had been a mentor for the Swiss team since last year, and with his wide influence and support, has helped bring in Tudor, a sister company of Rolex which is aswell a wristwatch maker. Cancellara has stated the ambitions of taking the team to the top of the cycling World, with a vision on how the team will be developing: "Obviously, we are ready to be invited, perhaps to races such as the Tour of Romandie and the Tour of Switzerland, but we want to take the time to build because companies don't become millionaires in one day, we always need time and patience," he concluded.
