Biniam Girmay had a breakthrough spring last year. He won Gent-Wevelgem which propelled him into a very successful season, however he also rode to fifth at the E3 Saxo Classic which was his true revelation. One year later, he returns with similar ambitions.
Girmay, winner of a stage at the Volta a Comunitat Valenciana earlier this year, searches a second triumph here. It will be quite a difficult task however taking into consideration the incredibly strong field. The less brutal cobbled classics will be best suited, but the Eritrean looks to be at his best at the helm of the Belgian team.
Mike Teunissen, his new right-hand man, will be present at the start line. Loïc Vliegen and Hugo Page come as interesting outsiders. Dries de Pooter, Laurenz Rex and Aimé de Gendt conclude the lineup.
Intermarché-Circus-Wanty for E3 Saxo Classic: Biniam Girmay, Dries de Pooter, Hugo Page, Laurenz Rex, Mike Teunissen, Aimé de Gendt and Loïc Vliegen.
