Unsurprisingly after his sheer brilliance in 2024, your votes have seen the all-conquering Tadej Pogacar named the Men's Rider of the Year for 2024 as part of the CyclingUpToDate End of Season Awards!

In truth, there was always little doubt about where this particular award would be heading and that shone through in your votes as the UAE Team Emirates leader took the vast majority of the total votes and secured a dominant victory ahead of Olympic champion Remco Evenepoel and double-monument winner Mathieu van der Poel in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Unquestionably the outstanding option, Tadej Pogacar has had a year from the gods in 2024. From his first race of the campaign (a stunning solo at Strade Bianche), to his final pedal strokes (a stunning solo at Il Lombardia), the Slovenian has been utterly dominant all season. Becoming the first man since Marco Pantani to win the Giro d’Italia and Tour de France in the same calendar year, Pogacar then went on to emulate Nicholas Roche and Eddy Merckx by adding a Rainbow Jersey to his Grand Tour double. Add to that a duo of monument victories, plus 12 Grand Tour stages and numerous other successes, Pogacar’s 2024 is a season that will go down in history.

As mentioned, Pogacar's brilliance shone through loud and clear in the voting numbers as the Slovenian bagged 80% (!) of the total, far and away clear of Evenepoel (6%) and Van der Poel (5%), with Primoz Roglic (3%), Ben O'Connor (3%), Jonas Vingegaard (1%), Marc Hirschi (1%) and Jasper Philipsen (0%) splitting the remainder of the votes between them.

After Pogacar's Men's Rider of the Year Award win, the 2024 CyclingUpToDate End of Season Awards are brought to a close. For a reminder, Thibau Nys took the Breakthrough Rider of the Year, Matteo Jorgenson the Signing of the Year, Pogacar the Individual Performance of the Year for his World Championship solo, UAE Team Emirates the Team of the Year and Katarzyna Niewiadoma the Women's Rider of the Year. Thank you to all who voted in our polls!
