Astana signs promising British cyclist Max Walker

Twenty-two-year-old British cyclist Max Walker has announced that he will join the Astana Qazastan training team starting this season. The move marks his farewell to the Saint Piran continental cycling team after an outstanding performance last month. Walker previously competed for three seasons for Trinity Racing.

Walker, recognized as a promising all-rounder, achieved multiple outstanding results last year. Among them, his sixth place in the Volta ao Alentejo, eighth in the Giro del Belvedere, ninth in the Glasgow World Championships and twelfth in the Liège-Bastogne-Liège Under-23. In addition, he broke into the professional ranks in 2023, finishing fifteenth in the overall classification of O Gran Camiño.

Team manager Alexander Vinokourov expressed his satisfaction with Walker's addition, noting his impressive performance during a training camp in January. Vinokourov noted, "I am happy that he is now joining our under-23 team. Here we will be able to teach him the ins and outs of the job. There he will have the opportunity to discover his full potential."
