Annemiek van Vleuten receives yet another award after stupendous 2022 season

Annemiek van Vleuten has already won the women's Velo d'Or award, but her confirmation as the most successful female rider of the year continuous as the veteran is awarded the female Dutch rider of the year award.

The Keetie van Oosten-Hage has been awarded to the Movistar Team rider, who has this year surged to victories at Liège-Bastogne-Liège, Tour de France Femmes, Ceratizit Challenge by La Vuelta and Giro Rosa. With a fractured elbow, she rode onto the win in the Wollongong World Championships and will ride her final season with the rainbow stripes.

Van Vleuten beat Lorena Wiebes, Ellen van Dijk, Marianne Vos, Laura Smulders and Anne Terpstra. The first three took part in the road season, Wiebes being by far the strongest sprinter of the year whilst Vos was awarded Cyclocross World Champion, Ellen van Dijk was the time-trial World Champion.

“It is a great honor that I am once again the female cyclist of the year. I always find it a bit of a difficult election, when you look at the nominees," van Vleuten said after being awarded. "That is comparing apples with pears, but I am proud that it was not such a difficult choice this year. It really was a great year."
