Alejandro Valverde and
Nairo Quintana were teammates for large years at
Movistar Team and have recently been reunited in training at the Spanish team's training camp. The former pro believes that he will fit back into the team quite well, despite some doubts having been launched.
"He knows practically everyone because they have been his teammates as riders. He's changed a lot, but what I've noticed is that he's come back and it feels like he hasn't left. It's just his home," Valverde said of the Colombian in words to El País. "Enric [Mas] is the leader, there is no doubt about that. But in addition there is a very big calendar, so he can enjoy and win, because I think he still has it in him to win. Both are completely compatible and can be perfectly combined."
This will happen quite early on, Quintana will have the opportunity to lead the team at the Volta a Comunitat Valenciana. After a year away from the peloton it's hard to say if his level could've suffered in any way, however he will either ways be a rider to watch throughout that week. It has been heavily rumoured that he will lead the team at the Giro d'Italia, whilst Mas is likely to do the Tour de France and Vuelta a Espana as team leader.
