A boom in the women's market! Laboral Kutxa signs Ane Santesteban

Cycling Market: Talented Basque cyclist Ane Santesteban (1990, Errenteria) has decided to return home and join the LABORAL Kutxa - Fundación Euskadi cycling team. This agreement marks the beginning of a new stage in Santesteban's career, who will ride with the team for the next three years, spanning the 2024, 2025 and 2026 seasons.

Santesteban, a leading figure in Spanish cycling and one of the most outstanding athletes on the international stage, will assume the role of leader in the LABORAL Kutxa-Fundación Euskadi. This team seeks to inspire and nurture Basque sportswomen who wish to compete on a global level, providing them with a mirror in which they can reflect themselves and aspire to achieve their dreams.

Santesteban's signing reflects the Basque team's tireless ambition to become a reference in the global peloton and participate in the most prestigious competitions on the calendar. With an outstanding performance in the Tour de France where she placed eighth and her impressive tenth place in the Giro, Santesteban becomes the rider with the most outstanding track record within the team's structure.

This three-year collaboration between Santesteban and LABORAL Kutxa-Fundación Euskadi not only consolidates the team's long-term vision, but also reflects its determination and ambition to reach new heights. Santesteban will not only become a crucial part of the sporting project, but will also be an inspiration for young Basque cyclists looking to succeed on the international stage.

In her own words, Ane Santesteban expressed her enthusiasm for this new stage in her career: "I really wanted to return home. After chasing dreams in other places, I felt like racing at home and now the opportunity has presented itself with LABORAL Kutxa to grow together. The goal is to keep growing and improving together, both as cyclists and as people. And what better place than here."

LABORAL Kutxa-Fundación Euskadi, which emerged in 2019 thanks to the collaboration between the Euskadi Foundation and the Basque credit cooperative, has been taking giant steps on its way to global recognition. As of 2021, the team became UCI Continental and received financial backing until 2029, as well as taking on the challenge of becoming a World Tour team along with its technical management.

The addition of Ane Santesteban and her long-term commitment further solidifies LABORAL Kutxa-Fundación Euskadi's position as a world-renowned team. Her experience and leadership will not only elevate the team's performance in competitions, but also empower young Basque cyclists in their pursuit of sporting excellence.

Aitor Galdós, general manager of LABORAL Kutxa-Fundación Euskadi, shared his excitement for the arrival of Santesteban: "The arrival of Ane means having the main reference of Basque cycling in recent years and one of the most outstanding cyclists in the international peloton. We have managed to unite the past, the present and the future of Basque cycling [...] it is something that fills us with pride".

This alliance not only benefits the team in terms of racing performance, but also provides a unique opportunity for the personal development and growth of the young women cyclists on the team.

Ane Santesteban, with an impressive track record that includes her participation in ten editions of the Giro, multiple World Championships and Olympic appearances at Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2021, will bring her vast experience and leadership to LABORAL Kutxa-Fundación Euskadi. His commitment to the team is both a testament to his dedication to the sport and a legacy that will inspire future generations of Basque cyclists.
