- Hard to believe Johannessen gets away with sweeping across the road through the middle of the group, causing a crash, and gets no yellow card.
- Fair play to remco, hope he can retain his place in podium
- He really bounced off that shoulder on the curb. We will see how he holds up.
- Well put!
- and he would have a cheap victory. I actually don't think he would want that with careful reflection.
- We have been waiting years to see most of these great riders in good form and uninjured - so that they can compete and we can see who is really the best rider. Ultimately, it is the fans who pay everybody's salary, and many fans want to see a great competition - not a cheap victory.
The support for a cheap victory just reveals the intense focus on winning of many riders and teams. But winning isn't everything. It is the overall spectacle - the courage and determination. Teams want to win, but ultimately it is best if the sport wins. People want true heroes not exploiters of misfortune.
Most of these leaders know this, and this is why they are great champions.
- He was in the left gutter and saw a nothing-burger move going up the right side. He had clear road ahead of him, but instead of jumping and going right after clearing the group like virtually every other pro, he swerved straight through the middle of the group. In an amateur race, this would have brought down 5 guys and sent 2 to the hospital. No one on any team wants to ride with someone like this. Hopefully they make that abundantly clear to him.
- ..or attack downhill.
- Agreed. I think this is why Jonas and Tadej do not want the some that goes with taking any kind of advantage. They will win because they are the strongest, not because of a racing incident.
- It’s not an exaggeration. The overhead clearly shows that he was close and he chopped him. A racing incident and let’s all move on.
