Only time will tell if CX has been left behind. Many worthwhile things are timeless. First, it takes a different skill set to do well in classic, varying, cyclocross courses. Second, cyclocross races are run in the winter and you don't want too much speed else you'll freeze your buns and extremities. Third, putting limits on the equipment has the effect of leveling the playing field from a cost perspective. Fourth, the limits allow for creating a legitimate course in smaller spaces, often in city parks, where you get more spectators, and it's quicker to get back to your cozy hearth and a warm shower. Festive fun. Fifth, you can run up a hill with any size tire. Or can you ride them all? —One idea is you could just organize a gravel race in the winter and call it the Wipperman Gravel A/S M+S (All Season Mud+Snow). I would try it.. If the course was decent. Just saying with LOL why I like the tradition of cyclocross 💚🌧️🚴🏽♂️🌨️
