It's been few years since Richie Porte hung up his racing kit, but the 39-year-old Australian is definitely not sitting still. Just earlier this year, he crushed competition in an unofficial time trial up Willunga Hill. And the third man of 2020 Tour de France continues to tick off items from his bucket list with a staggering 20km swim.
Porte shared impressions in an Instagram post: "Bucket list checked off this morning, the Everest Challenge of the swimming pool with 200 times a 100 meters in a row in good company. I enjoyed every minute of it, although after 19 kilometers my arms got completely stuck."
Swimming is not entirely new to Porte. The Tasmanian was a triathlete before he turned to cycling professionally. From 2003 to 2006, he focused on that sport. Porte actually comes from swimming, but discovered during his triathlon career that he had more talent for cycling.
