- Do you think the 2024 Vuelta was comfortable for him? It was not. More young guns will be coming out this year, he's an older rider who needs everything to go his way. He could potentially win the Giro again but he will not fare well in the Tour if he makes it.
- When you say a weak field what do you mean by that ? There are only 2 other riders above him and arguably Remco is at least as good or better. He won the vuelta quite comfortably despite fracture in his vertebrae and performed his best numbers ever in some stages. His TT is pretty good and he can hold his own, obviously I don't think he's as good as tadej or Jonas yet he's up there.
- It may very well be true, but the cynic in me thinks that it is a form of sportwashing whose aim is to rehabilitate Armstong's negative reputation.
- Jeez, he’s just stating his feeling, who are you guys to tell him what to like, prioritise or even should do, I’m sure he has more knowledge to decide and has put more thought into his schedule and future goals. Also, it’s his current feeling (based on past experience), he might end up changing it in future.
- the updated diets with massive carb loads during a race, the ability to take in baking soda w/o getting sick, and yes bike design has evolved very quickly. I do understand your doubt. I'm hoping you're wrong : )
- Him, Lance, and their team of cheaters completely destroyed pro cycling in the US.
- He tested positive. His team doctor got banned. They trafficked in steroids. But if you ignore those things and the complete rise from nowhere and then return to pub race levels. Then sure.
- "training, nutrition and aerodynamics" ??? In four years? Uh, nope. Not one iota. This is what dopers have always said to explain their rise from nobodies to complete dominance. Every single time.
- Froome was certainly the Grand Tour rider of his generation, and one of the all-time greats. Cycling was lucky to have him, with his quiet, humble, and workman-like approach to competition. It was a shame his reign ended so brutally and suddenly. The sport is fortunate once more that such a wealth of generational talent has come along to replace him, with MVDP, Van Aert, Roglic, Vingegaard, and Pogacar. It's especially cool to see the gracious exuberance of Pogacar in such contrast to Froome's reserve, or Armstrong's grim competitiveness.
- it is cringeworthy to read XC when you are referring to cyclocross, which I think you are as Wout does not do XC. CX = cyclocross. XC = cross country mountain biking. and so you have the rest: XCO = cross country olympic race. XCM = cross country marathon. XCC = cross country short track.
