Since claiming the gravel Rainbow Jersey last year, Matej Mohoric hasn't been seen all that often on the circuit. As announced by his Bahrain - Victorious team however, at the upcoming UCI Gravel World Series in Girona, the Slovenian will be present alongside compatriot Matevz Govekar.
“I’m pretty excited about starting a race with my World Champion jersey again for the last time before the World Championships in Leuven in October,” previews Mohoric in conversation with Bahrain - Victorious' official website. “Of course, I want to do well, especially because I would love to win a race wearing the rainbow jersey. I arrived in Spain earlier to check the course and make any necessary adjustments to our setup, and hopefully, I will be in the mix to fight for the win.”
As mentioned, this race is set to mark the final appearance of Mohoric in the Rainbow Bands as Gravel World Champion, before he heads to Belgium later in the year in an attempt to defend his title.
