Unstoppable Fem van Empel victorious again in Antwerpen

Fem van Empel has continued her incredible winning run with victory in Antwerpen in the latest round of UCI World Cup action. Completing the podium were Lucinda Brand and Puck Pieterse.

After the duo of Fem van Empel and Lucinda Brand rode clear in the early laps, a momentary easing of the pace saw Puck Pieterse regain contact at the head of the race. Seeing this though and benefiting from a couple of Brand errors, van Empel wasted little time in kicking again and this time, no one could live with her.

With two laps remaining, the world champion had a 10-second lead on her nearest challenger, Brand. That's how things remained as well with van Empel taking the win ahead of Brand in second and Pieterse holding on for third.
