Tibor Del Grosso has won the Dutch national cyclocross championship to take advantage of the absence of Mathieu van der Poel who was not present. Del Grosso beat Pim Ronhaar into second place, and Joris Nieuwenhuis came third.

At the start, it was Tibor Del Grosso who made the first move and took the first position on the opening lap. He was joined at the front by a group that included, Ronhaar, Nieuwenhuis and Lars van der Haar, and it was van der Haar who appeared to be the strongest at that point.

But at the start of lap three, a leading duo had emerged: Pim Ronhaar and Joris Nieuwenhuis. The leading two had found 5 seconds to escape from van der Haar, and Tibor del Grosso who were chasing behind. But del Grosso surged away from van der Haar, and Nieuwenhuis dropped away from Ronhaar. And so, with around 3 laps remaining, it looked like a battle between Ronhaar and Del Grosso.

But again, Nieuwenhuis battled back and made it three riders riding for glory momentarily, but on the seventh and final lap he was distanced Ronhaar and Del Grosso.

And so it came down to a final battle, and it was Del Grosso who managed to sprint away and take his very first national title, a brilliant win for the 21 year old. Ronhaar could do nothing but shake his head as his rival rode away, and he had to settle for second place on the day.
