Shirin van Anrooij has won the World Cup Gavere. In the starting lap, she forged a gap that she maintained to win her third race of the season.
Marie Schreiber had a nice start. Puck Pieterse and Shirin van Anrooij were not lucky and fell behind the group. The course became muddy due to the heavy rainfall. Van Anrooij attacked and managed to take the lead for herself.
Lucinda Brand was just 7 seconds behind van Anrooij which she managed to cover in the second lap. But van Anrooij once again managed to drop the Dutchwoman. Blanka Kata Vas was almost 30 seconds behind Van Anrooij and a contender for the third position but Pieterse was not going down without a battle.
Shirin van Anrooij crossed the finish line first and secured her third victory of the season. The silver medal was the best Lucinda Brand could manage after a fierce battle with her teammate. Puck Pieterse took the bronze.
