Results Exact Cross Essen | Lucinda Brand and Toon Vandebosch victorious in early-season cross

The very fast Exact Cross Essen delivered thrilling action this Saturday afternoon, as we've seen two sprint finishes essentially in both men's and women's race. In the end it was Lucinda Brand and Toon Vandebosch who managed to come away with the victories.
In the women's race Lucinda Brand was the strongest on the day, continuing their success from last season, after also winning in Ardooie only a few days ago. She beat Sara Casasola and Marion Norbert Riberolle to take the victory.

In the men's race we've had the unusual sight of Cameron Mason attacking right in the first lap, taking the holeshot and getting a gap that looked very threatening for the competition. However he was caught later in the race.
Eventually a large group went into the final lap of the race together and we were to have another sprint, with Niels Vandeputte being overtaken by a bold Vandebosch in one of the final corners, crashing, with Vandebosch then riding away with the victory. Victor Van de Putte and Niels Vandeputte completed the podium.

- Well, those arguments have just been Chrissified. Much as I like him, Primoz is at best fighting for a very crowded, disputed and precarious 4th and that’s only in tours / grand tours. Used to be 2nd, unlucky not to have been best longer, perhaps coming to cycling too late. Hope he can take advantage of the chance he’s been given which in no way indicates anyone is avoiding a challenge. - Funny, in cyclocross we just had an article suggesting you should just sit on MVDP’s wheel from the moment he goes. Personally, I’d say the best tactic for someone a little better than TB is to try sit on their wheel and do absolutely nothing to help them. Someone like e.g. Remco or WVA is sure to win that way (and at least another dozen have a good chance), fortunately that’s not in their character. It may even have the effect of annoying them so much they abandon their move allowing the peleton back. Seems more like other teams need to learn to pre-emt their attacks at all times and any well-organised team can counter their attacks even if it means holding back until a climb has been completed.Mistermaumau25-01-2026
