Lucinda Brand had looked set to take herself another UCI World Cup victory last Sunday in Zonhoven. Sadly though, the former World Champion left the race battered and bloody after a hard crash whilst leading.
After undergoing further medical examinations in recent days, the Baloise - Trek Lions team have given an update on the status of Brand. "Examinations showed us that Lucinda’s nose is broken," the announcement confirms.
"But, she can breathe freely and there are no medical risks to cycling," it continues before concluding with a not of optimism ahead of upcoming challenges. "Therefore, she’s determined to compete in the Dutch Championships this Sunday in Hoogeveen."
