Joris Nieuwenhuis will also be a cyclocross rider for Baloise Trek Lions for the next two years, until December 2025. The cyclo-cross team of manager Sven Nys is proud to announce the contract extension of the 27-year-old Dutchman.
"I am happy to announce that I will stay with this team for another two years," said Nieuwenhuis, who combined the road with the field for years at Team Sunweb which later became Team DSM. At the end of 2022, he decided to put road cycling aside and focus entirely on cyclo-cross again, at Baloise Trek Lions.
"Soon after joining the team, I realized this was the environment I was looking for. I have the right people around me here," he says. "I am very motivated to continue to improve as a cyclo-cross rider in the coming years, together with the team."
This cyclo-cross season started difficult for Nieuwenhuis. In the muddy Superprestige Niel he came through well and fought for victory together with Eli Iserbyt for a long time, but had to settle for second place.
