Dutch national team coach Gerben de Knegt has led the cyclocross team to another very successful week, as the Netherlands proved to be the most successful nation in the weekend taking gold medals in both elite races with Fem van Eempel and Mathieu van der Poel.
“He has gained confidence from that," de Knegt said following van der Poel's win in the main event at Hoogerheide. "He also said to rely on his sprint and it showed. Although Wout van Aert really makes a mistake there in my opinion. It seemed he was surprised that Mathieu didn't make his move on the planks. It seemed like he didn't know what to do anymore."

This final win came as the fourth out of seven events that took place. The team has won the Mixed Team Relay on Friday, the women's under-23 and elite races with Shirin van Anrooij and Fem van Empel, and has stormed to another win at the men's Elite with Mathieu van der Poel. A fifth gold medal was expected but main favourite Lauren Molengraaf was severely hampered by a puncture which saw her out of the fight for the win.
“It was a fantastic World Cup for us! It started very well with the Mixed Team Relay. I myself really liked that, that we won it with the whole group. Only Lauren Molengraaf's flat tire is the only blemish on this weekend.," he commented.
