Cyclocross Reds star Annemarie Worst has been picking up form in recent weeks with a number of solid performances. Sadly for the Dutch, cyclocross star though, her momentum has now been brought to halt following a bad crash at World Cup Zonhoven.
The former European champion fell heavily on Sunday afternoon and as she explained in a post-race update on her official Instagram account, she hasn't escaped unscathed. "My day started really well like I felt the last races. My condition was improving a lot and every race I felt stronger," she writes. "But it ended brutal today with a crash in the kuil in Zonhoven. With the crash I broke two bones in my hand, so now it’s first time for surgery this Tuesday."
In the end, Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado went on to take the victory on Sunday afternoon. Worst isn't completely giving up hope though as she concludes her Instagram post with the hashtag: "I will be back."
