Wout van Aert's aggressive behaviour throughout the Giro d'Italia has rewarded him with the 'Super combative' award in the final podium. The Belgian was able to join Simon Yates and Olav Kooij as one of the riders who was able to climb onto the podium in Rome over his achievements in the race.
Not only did the winners of the classifications climbed onto the podium, but also a few men who stood out throughout the three weeks. Lorenzo Fortunato was considered the race's 'Super Combative', Dries de Bondt was the winner of the intermediate sprint classification and Bardiani's Manuele Tarozzi won both the Red Bull kilometers classification and the rider with most breakaway kilometers.
Van Aert himself, besides winning stage 9 in style in Siena, was able to leadout Olav Kooij to two stage wins in the bunch sprints, and was a big key to Visma's overall classification victory after joining the breakaway on stage 20 and then pulling for Simon Yates following the attack on Colle delle Finestre.
