The tenth stage of the Tour de France concluded on Tuesday, with protest by climate-change activists being the highlight of the day . Wout Van Aert finished in 65th place, 10 minutes behind stage winner Magnus Cort.
Van Aert is saving energy for the challenging stages on Wednesday and Thursday. “It was a very fast start today. It took a very long time before we got a flight. That was a difficult situation for everyone, The final climb was too easy to attack Tadej Pogacar. In addition, the coming days will also be very tough, then we will become a bit wiser,” said Van Aert to Sporza.
The race was disrupted due to climate-change activists protesting on the track around 35 kilometers from the finish line ."I didn't even know that. I was chatting at the back of the peloton when I heard the race was going to be stopped. Of course, the Tour is a big stage to protest on. I would say: good try, but embarrassing for us," concluded Van Aert. He currently holds 42nd position in GC, 31 minutes and 39 seconds behind overall leader Tadej Pogacar.
