The Volta a Catalunya has been battled every single day and entering the final day only 10 seconds separate Primoz Roglic and Remco Evenepoel. The duo enter the final stage with the fight wide open and Jumbo-Visma are aware of the danger.
“This was a super tough stage. It took a long time for a leading group to emerge. This is due to the high pace of the peloton. It was a day when many teams saw their chance," team DS Merijn Zeeman said in a press release. "We took control and parried Evenepoel's pinpricks."
Zeeman was in the car during this nervous day, guiding the team through many breakaway attempts that included GC riders. Roglic's lead wasn't safe however as Remco Evenepoel attacked towards the end of the day. Roglic was taken to the maximum once again but kept his lead intact. The dangerous and tricky final day in Barcelona will decide the overall classification.
"We successfully defended the leader's jersey. We end the day as we started it, with a ten second lead in the standings. Two of the best riders in the world entertained the crowd today. And we expect another intense fight in the final stage," Zeeman concluded.
