Team Visma | Lease a Bike head into the final stage of the 2024 Volta ao Algarve with strength in depth at the top of the general classification.

Each of Jan Tratnik, Wout van Aert and Sepp Kuss are still in contention of a podium position, much to the delight of sports director, Marc Reef. “Tratnik has had an excellent time trial. He also had a good feeling along the way. We can only say that he achieved a good result,” said Reef, post-stage 4, delighted by the Slovenian's performances.

For Kuss, the time-trial wasn't quite so good however. “We all know that the time trial is not Sepp's specialty," Reef assesses. "For his part, he did a good job. He loses some time on the competition, but that was calculated in advance.”

And of course, with Wout van Aert still very much in contention, the team is always in with a chance. “We are now third, fourth and eleventh in the overall ranking. This puts us in a reasonable position. Looking to tomorrow, with another uphill finish, a lot is still possible,” Reef concludes.
