"We also saw other teams, such as UAE" - Remco Evenepoel not alone in examining crucial Tour de France ITT route following Paris-Nice

After concluding his efforts at Paris-Nice with a stage win and second place overall, Remco Evenepoel stayed around the area on Monday to do some reconnaissance of the time-trial that will bring the 2024 Tour de France to a conclusion later this year.

“We started in Monaco, where it was quite busy. We did the first climbs twice to get a good look at them. We also did the descent to Nice twice," Soudal - Quick-Step's sports director, Klaas Lodewyck says of the Belgian's findings during his recon in quotes collected by Het Nieuwsblad. "It is a nice time trial, but very tough. We also saw other teams, such as UAE.”

Evenepoel himself thought there were would be many familiar faces on the roads on Nice this Monday when he spoke after taking his first career victory on French soil last Sunday. “I don't think I'm the only one who thinks this way. Now that we're in the area," he said and that proved to be true.

"After the explorations, I will return to Calpe, where hopefully the weather will be good. And then I will take a few days of rest before I start preparing for the Itzulia Basque Country," Evenepoel adds. "I think I deserved that.”
