Vuelta a Espana 2024 stage 13 GC update | Ben O'Connor loses a lot of time on Primoz Roglic; BORA rider 1:40 ahead of Enric Mas

The Vuelta a España 2024 faced this Friday, August 30, one of its decisive stages for the general classification. The Puerto de Ancares was going to test Enric Mas, Primoz Roglic, Richard Carapaz, Mikel Landa and Carlos Rodríguez, who were looking to cut time with the red jersey, Ben O'Connor.

The Decathlon rider started the day with a lead of 3 minutes and 16 seconds over Roglic, who was 2nd, and 3:58 over Mas. The leaders of Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe and Movistar Team were the ones who had the most obligation to attack on the Puerto de Ancares. The final climb of the day had to activate the fight for the general classification.

The race did blow up with BORA pushing the pace and Primoz Roglic attacking, dropping everyone in his wake. He gained significant time on the entire competition taking another 58 seconds on Enric Mas who cracked in the final kilometers and almost two minutes in a Ben O'Connor who found himself against in hot water.

However he remains in the red jersey, with a lead of 1:21 minutes over Roglic. Enric Mas remains in third place but now 3:01 away from the race lead and 1:40 minutes away from Roglic.
