Best Dutch cycling team of the year! 🇳🇱🏆 #wielergala2023
With Jumbo-Visma no more and the team becoming Team Visma | Lease a Bike in 2024, research has been done into the behind-the-scenes of the new setup and it's been revealed that car manufacturer Volkswagen are one of the driving forces.
Research done by Wielerflits has revealed that Volkswagen Financial Services have recently acquired a 49% stake in bicycle leasing subsidiary Bike Mobility Services of Pon Holdings. “Our partnership with Pon is another important step in our development into a broadly oriented provider of mobility services and thus supports the strategic goals of the Volkswagen Group,” said Christian Dahlheim, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Volkswagen Financial Services AG. “We are committed to fully leveraging the strengths of our position in the automotive industry and as the world's leading bicycle company.”
Pon Holdings, the company behind Lease a Bike's securing of such a large, long-term investor as Volkswagen will surely only benefit Richard Plugge's team as they look to continue their dominance from 2023, a year in which they made cycling history by winning all three Grand Tours.
“Through the collaboration with Pon, Volkswagen FS wants to become Europe's largest party in the bicycle industry,” Dahlheim emphasizes in conclusion. Positive soundbites to here for fans of the team that boasts stars like Wout van Aert, Jonas Vingegaard and Sepp Kuss among others.
