Visma DS Marc Reef admits failure after miserable Volta a Catalunya: "This race didn't quite go the way we envisioned it"

The 2024 Volta a Catalunya is a wrap. For Team Visma | Lease a Bike, it won't be an edition the team will remember fondly. The formation was far from competitive for stages and failed to leave a mark in the overall standings too. For the Dutch team it's an opportunity to analyse what went wrong before they move on to next objectives.

"This race didn't quite go the way we envisioned it beforehand," sports director Marc Reef said in press release after the race. "However, the fighting spirit of the guys is to be commended. When things just don't fall into place, it is important to show character. And we have seen that this week. You don't always get what you strive for. That's just how it works. Now it is important for the men who were here at the start to recover well and focus on the upcoming goals, because they will follow soon."
