Vincenzo Nibali to ride custom-painted bike in his last ever race as a pro rider

Vincenzo Nibali is ending what is one of the most illustrious and successful careers in modern cycling at Il Lombardia, and he is riding a special bike as a tribute to a man who has marked Italy's long history in pro cycling.

Astana Qazaqstan Team have shared on social media the Willier 0 SLR that the Italian will be riding at the fifth monument of the season, one he has won back in 2015 and 2017, and will be looking for a hattrick taking into consideration the form he has been showing this season.

The bike features a three-colour setup with blue, yellow and red, with several small details about his nicknames and personal triumphs spread across the frame. The Italian has taken countless wins in his home country of incredible importance, and Astana's bike manufacturer has taken the opportunity.

“This is why, we – every single one of us at Wilier Triestina – have decided to pay tribute to Vincenzo Nibali with a special paintwork that would represent not just a successful career, but also our sense of gratitude for giving us so many thrills along the way," Willier president Andrea Gastaldello said about the project.
