Movistar Team's Oier Lazkano got himself into the early breakaway on the day and as it turned out, despite the best efforts of the chasing pack, that was the last any of them saw of the Spanish national champion before the post-race celebrations.
Wout van Aert was sadly ruled out by an earlier puncture whilst tensions flared between Team Visma | Lease a Bike and UAE Team Emirates in the chase.
