Stage 8 of the
Vuelta a Espana had a finale in Xorret de Catí, a very difficult hilly stage which had a sharp climb close to the finish.
Primoz Roglic took the stage win after the breakaway was caught and the GC fight ignited.
Remco Evenepoel paced up the final ascent splitting the group up quite a lot. He was then unaware that he was fighting for the stage win as the 30-rider breakaway was split into many pieces, and he was beaten by Primoz Roglic to the line. Cian Uijtdebroeks was the biggest victim, having shed time whilst Lenny Martínez lost the red jersey to
Sepp Kuss who finished in the front group.
