A flat transitional day after the successive mountain challenges of previous days, stage 19 at the 2023 Vuelta a Espana saw a thrilling finale with Alberto Dainese taking a dramatic victory.
Kaden Groves was the favourite for the bunch sprint but after a crash ruled him out with just over a kilometre to go, the sprint was open. Filippo Ganna launched first and the Italian powerhouse looked set to secure the win before right on the throw for the line, Dainese pipped his compatriot and took the win for himself.
