VIDEO: Vingegaard and Vlasov collide in brutally steep Itzulia finale

The fifth stage of Itzulia Basque Country had a brutally steep finale in Mallabia which saw some riders struggle to get up, due to the wet roads. Stage winner Carlos Rodríguez was seen having a back wheel slip close to the finish line, but the gradients noticeably bit Jonas Vingegaard whose back wheel slipped with less than 25 meters to go causing him to put a foot down and take Aleksandr Vlasov down.

The duo lost 11 and 13 seconds respectively to Daniel Martínez who was the first rider of the group to cross the finish line, as they both crossed the finish line running. The stage saw earlier on an attack by Remco Evenepoel which ended up seeing a functioning collaboration as race leader Primoz Roglic failed to respond to the attack.
