It's official,
Annemiek van Vleuten has raced her final World Championships. Although the legendary Dutchwoman was unable to take a farewell victory, she was all smiles as she crossed the line in eighth place.
The 40-year-old had been well in the running for victory until a cruel puncture ruled her out in the closing kilometres. Nevertheless, she kept battling and continued on to the line, soaking up the applause of the knowledgeable and loving Glasgow crowd, nearly three minutes down on winner
Lotte Kopecky.
