Filippo Zana has taken a big career-changing victory at the Giro d'Italia last afternoon, narrowly outsprinting Thibaut Pinot at Val di Zolo. Every detail matters when it comes down to such a tight finish, and two 'sticky bottles' throughout the day have led to some criticism of the Italian champion.
With 40 and 28 kilometers to go, on two occasions the TV broadcast showed Zana getting a sticky bottle from the Team Jayco AlUla car. Whilst allowed, it is a subjective area of how much is allowed, both in terms of time, result, or financial penalizations.
