The big pre-race favourite,
Tadej Pogacar's attack was a question of when not if, this Sunday afternoon in Zurich. In truth though, not many would have expected the Slovenian to launch at 100km to go!
With a dangerous lead group nearly two minutes up the road, Pogacar has decided to take matters into his own hands in the chase, attacking from the peloton. Although
Quinn Simmons and
Andrea Bagioli attempted to follow, they were soon dropped as Pogacar linked up with compatriot Jan Tratnik from the breakaway. Notably though, there was no sign of
Mathieu van der Poel or
Remco Evenepoel.
