UAE Team Emirates had a plan for today's stage of the Tour de France and they are implementing it. It was a very fast and explosive start, and Tadej Pogacar has gone all-out to drop the competition in the very steep Puy de Mary.
It was a day long's work to launch this move. UAE controlled and brought back the breakaway early on and has successfully used up all it's riders to make the difference. Adam Yates paced up the ascent to Puy Mary and with 31 kilometers to go Pogacar attacked with a fierce acceleration. He immediately created a gap to the rest of the group. Jonas Vingegaard attempted to make the catch at the summit but couldn't. He and Primoz Roglic chase back around 15 seconds back, Remco Evenepoel around 35, and the rest of the field even more far behind.
