Today's queen stage of the
Vuelta a San Juan saw fireworks at the Alto Colorado, and
Remco Evenepoel was the first to make a big move. The World Champion tested his early season form, but was no match to Miguel Ángel López who took the stage win.
Evenepoel's attack with 10 kilometers to go was the first attack from the peloton. For a couple of minutes he was clear of the peloton chased by INEOS Grenadiers, but eventually was caught and dropped by several riders including eventual stage winner Miguel Ángel López. Evenepoel rode to 7th place on the day and is 8th in the overall classification.
