Following the immediate joy of
Sepp Kuss,
Jonas Vingegaard and
Primoz Roglic crossing the line with their podium places still in tact at the
Vuelta a Espana, one
Jumbo-Visma staff member was quickly brought back down to earth by the Spanish police.
As the video below shows, the staff member is tackled to the ground by three members of the Guardia Civil and as they surround him, he is prevented from getting back to his feet until another Jumbo-Visma member comes over to explain. This is not the first time something similar has happened at this year's race either as a Cofidis soigneur was floored by police as Jesus Herrada took victory on stage 11.
La Policia Nacional is doing what they are doing best: Use aggression in any situation.
Maybe for once, being in the media zone of La Vuelta, they could control themselves. But no, in front of the world they give the country a bad name.
Fantastic.
This is not the full video. The Jumbo staff member started pushing the police first, just before the beginning of this video. Also these are not guardia civil but policia nacional.
I was not able to understand why this guy was this aggressive. As you say if he initiated it then likely he is at fault.
