Jhonatan Narváez was proclaimed champion of Ecuador in road cycling after winning the national championships over the defending champion and big favourite Richard Carapaz.
The INEOS Grenadiers rider has started the 2024 season at a high level and showed his speed in the final meters to win over the EF Education-EasyPost rider and Jefferson Cepeda, from Caja Rural.
At the podium celebration we saw something unusual that is not usual in UCI races. After Narváez received the jersey with the colors of the Ecuadorian flag, the organizers took a suckling pig to the podium.
