The closing day of action at AlUla Tour saw the climbers and GC riders come to the fore with the brutally steep climb towards Skyviews of Harrat Uwayrid in the finale. Not an ideal scenario for Team DSM-firmenich PostNL who started the race without a GC leader.
"We knew today was going to be really tough but we wanted to go all out for it and tried our best in the finale," began Casper Van Uden after the stage. "I think the week overall has been a success for us. We showed we were really consistent in the sprint stages and that we had really good teamwork together, so we can take confidence from that into the next races."
Regardless, it was not a terrible race for the Dutch WorldTour team as they scored a stage win with Van Uden as well as three third places. Van Uden will be back in the action at Figueira Classic next Saturday. He will then stay in Portugal and race the Volta ao Algarve too.
