The run-in to the line for a bunch sprint is always a stressful affair. On stage 1 of the
Tour de Hongrie however, that stress caused a disastrous crash with just over a kilometre to go.
As the sprint trains tried their best to position their respective fast men in the best possible positions, numerous riders, most notably the crash magnet,
Egan Bernal who once again was seemingly in the wrong place at the wrong time.
From the riders who managed to stay upright it was
Team Jayco AlUla's
Dylan Groenewegen that would outsprint
Sam Bennett and
Caleb Ewan to take victory and the overall lead of the race alongside his stage win.
