Unlucky week ends prematurely for David Gaudu - Groupama - FDJ leader abandons Paris-Nice

David Gaudu crashed whilst removing a jacket riding uphill during stage 4 of Paris-Nice. An initially silly crash but one which eventually cost him the chance to fight for the overall classification. However the crash also led to persistent pain that has hampered him throughout the week, and will not start the race in Nice today.

"David Gaudu will not be taking part in the final stage of Paris-Nice, after having crashed on Wednesday's Mont Brouilly stage," Groupama - FDJ stated in their social media accounts. "He will be resting for a few days to recover and carry out further tests." He should resume racing at the Itzulia Basque Country, ahead of the Ardennes where he will also have big goals.
