The UCI team ranking enters a key phase of the calendar. With the Giro d’Italia just finished and a quiet competitive week, movement has been limited, although some squads have used smaller races to bank valuable points at what can be considered the midpoint of the season.
At the top, UAE Team Emirates - XRG keeps edging away and is now beyond 15,000 points. The main change is the switch between Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe and Team Visma | Lease a Bike. The German outfit moves past the Dutch team into second after adding more than 500 points this week, while Visma barely tacks on 15. Here is last week’s ranking.
Also notable is the rise of Decathlon CMA CGM Team, which keeps consolidating fourth place, and Team Jayco AlUla, which gains almost 200 points to cement its top-10 spot. Alpecin - Premier Tech also improves its tally, though not enough to reclaim 10th place.
Further back, Cofidis delivers one of the week’s biggest jumps among the top 20. The French team climbs from 4,848 to 5,174 points (mainly thanks to Milan Fretin's back-to-back podium results on home roads), moving up two spots to 14th.
In the opposite direction, Pinarello Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team slips two places despite adding a few points, while NSN Cycling Team keeps growing and nears the 5,200-point mark.
Bigger changes are expected at the end of this week thanks to WorldTour stage race Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, and also the Copenhagen Sprint on Sunday.
However even greater movements are to come right ahead of the Tour de France, mainly thanks to national championships where the more-international lineups can take spotlight. In addition, Tour de Suisse, Tour of Slovenia and Baloise Belgium Tour will bring a hefty amount of points to the table.
With passage of weeks, the situation around relegation zone has not become any clearer as teams from 13th to 21st are less than 900 points apart. And the 12th Uno-X Mobility need to maintain a steady pace as well only 300 points further ahead of Movistar Team in 13th.
In order to secure a WorldTour license in 2029, teams need to finish among the best 18 teams in UCI's three-year cycle ranking, and there seems to be at the very least 21 teams interested to be part of this group. At the moment, the short straw would be bestowed upon Tudor Pro Cycling, EF Education-EasyPost, and Unibet Rose Rockets.
The immediate target for these teams is to catch up to Groupama - FDJ United, which currently sets the top-18 cut at 4,842 points. The gap is especially narrow for Tudor, just 142 points away. EF Education is under 400 points back and Unibet Rose Rockets under 500, margins that can be flipped with one or two standout rides.
Meanwhile, Team Picnic PostNL remains buried deep down the ranking in 28th position, having only just surpassed Euskaltel-Euskadi and the continental lineup Roojai Insurance Winspace. But they still miss 3,400 points to catch Groupama - FDJ United.
No one can match UAE at the top of the UCI WorldTour Ranking
