UAE Team Emirates take on Nils Politt to reinforce classics and GC teams

UAE Team Emirates lead the UCI rankings and are in quite a high position within cycling however they continue to become stronger. After Pavel Sivakov, now the team brings in Nils Politt on a three-year deal.

“I’m really excited to be riding over the next years with UAE Team Emirates. I think it’s one of the biggest teams in the world and also another step in my career," the former German national champion has said in a press release. "I hope we have a lot of success together and achieve some good results together, so I’m really looking forward to the next 3 years.”

Politt has won a stage in the 2021 Tour de France and excels as a rouleur. A classics specialist, he has also a few quality results in the cobbles, however since 2019 he hasn't finished on the Top10 of a monument despite his quality. A breakaway chaser, the BORA - hansgrohe rider has also taken on a role of leadout man but most importantly of support for GC riders when it comes to positioning. He's expected to take on that role in his new team which keeps building it's climber contingent.

“We are very pleased to welcome Nils into the team. He has proven pedigree as a very strong rider and will bolster our classics team as well as our stage racing squad. We hope for many good years working together," Mauro Gianetti, team manager concluded.
