It's not so often Mikkel Bjerg gets to be by far the oldest rider listed for a race with UAE Team Emirates, but Classica Valenciana and Gran Premio Castellón will be that exception to a rule as the 25-year-old Dane will lead a mix of his younger teammates and talents from the new development UAE Team Gen Z to glory on the Spanish soil.
Both races are expected to lead to a (reduced) bunch finish despite Valenciana has very hilly first half of the race and in GP Castellón, riders will cross Collado de Ayódar (5,2km a 4,3%) with just 12,5kms to go. The selection for the race lacks a sprint leader, so UAE Team Emirates is expected to be seen on the offensive at the start of the season.
UAE Team Emirates lineup for Classica Valenciana and GP Castellón:
Mikkel Bjerg, Igor Arrieta, Filippo Baroncini, Jan Chirsten, Duarte Marivoet (Gen Z), Gibbe Staes (Gen Z) and Pablo Torres (Gen Z)
