Juan Sebastián Molano is currently out of competition after recently being hit by a car, however not all is good news for the
UAE Team Emirates sprinter. After a very strong start of the season he's signed a new three-year deal with the team.
Molano has won the final stage of the Vuelta a Espana last year showing his speed, and as UAE Team Emirates focuses more and more on their climbers, the fast men field thins down. Alexander Kristoff and Fernando Gaviria are out of the team, Pascal Ackermann is no longer the same dominant figure, and so Molano became the team's main weapon for the flat finishes. He's won a stage at the UAE Tour this year and recently the cobbled GP de Denain.
“I’m extremely pleased to be staying here for the next three years," the Colombian said in a press release. "The team feels like a second family and there is a special atmosphere between everyone. I feel like I’ve grown a lot in this team and I want to continue that growth in the years to come.”
He may become the team's leading sprinter over the coming years, and team manager Mauro Gianetti also expressed his satisfaction with the new three-year deal: “Molano is a rider we have seen progress steadily over the years and really find his place in the team. We trust that we will see many more great things to come from him in the future.”
