Jumbo-Visma have had a tough day on the road at the Tour Down Under, losing Robert Gesink due to a violent crash in the closing kilometers of stage 1. The veteran Dutch rider has suffered a broken pelvis as a result.
This comes as a serious injury for the Jumbo-Visma rider who will likely miss out on the coming months of competition. "Not how I had hoped for our time in Australia to end," he said in a message on Instagram. The team continues in the race with the goal of supporting Rohan Dennis.
