The Tour de France is often named the biggest race in cycling, the most famous one, with most exposure, popularity and fans. Hence, it is perhaps the one where riders are the most excited to race for the first time. 36 riders will achieve that this Saturday - if nothing changes in the meantime.
Those 36 riders, equating to 20.4% of the whole 2023 Tour peloton, will be racing it for the first time. This list includes incredibly talented riders such as Biniam Girmay, Mattias Skjelmose and Carlos Rodríguez, and even a Grand Tour winner such as Jai Hindley who enters the Grand Boucle for the first time at 27 years of age. Carlos Rodríguez of INEOS is the youngest rider to make his debut in the race at 22 years old, whilst Movistar's Antonio Pedrero is the oldest debutant, age 31.
